A school bus was involved in a crash in Fort Smith shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday, school district spokesperson Christina Williams told 40/29 News.
A car ran a stop sign and hit the bus on Zero Street near Ben Geren Park, she said. There were about 40 students on the bus at the time.
One person was hurt, but their injury doesn't appear to be life-threatening, Aric Mitchell, police spokesperson, said. Mitchell wasn't sure yet if the injury was to someone on the bus or the car.
Students were brought to school, were fed, and are in class, Williams said.
Counselors and nurses will provide emotional and physical health support for students who were on the bus and request it, she added.
Police were still investigating the crash as of 9 a.m., Mitchell told 40/29.
