Leo Santa Cruz breaks down welterweight title fight between Terence Crawford and Shawn Porter

Santa Cruz thinks Crawford will need to switch up his plan of attack to deal with Porter’s relentless style.

Former world titleholder Leo Santa Cruz takes a moment to weigh in with his thoughts on the big news of Terence Crawford defending his strap against Shawn Porter. Timothy Bradley was one recent former champion who predicts a close, tough fight for both men, and Santa Cruz shares a similar line of thinking while speaking to Fight Hype.

“Porter’s a fighter that comes to fight,” Santa Cruz said. “He brings the pressure, he’s on top of you, breaking you down, and I don’t know if Crawford has faced a fighter like that — that’s on top of you, pushing you, pushing you. So it’s gonna be a great fight for Porter and Crawford. They’re both great fighters, they’re both one of the best and I think it’s going to be a really, really close fight and whoever pushes it the most is gonna take it.

“Crawford’s a great fighter, he throws a lot of punches too, but when you have a fighter like Porter that’s on top of you it changes it. So he’s gonna have to change it up and (we’ll) see what he does.”
