Coronation Street to air rare Thursday episode as Alina's story comes to a head

Coronation Street fans can look forward to an extra visit to Weatherfield tonight (September 16) as the Alina Pop, Tyrone Dobbs and Fiz Stape love triangle continues.

ITV has scheduled in an hour-long episode for 8pm this evening, as Tyrone (Alan Halsall) faces a race against time to sort out his messy love life.

The extended edition has been scheduled in to make up for fewer Corrie episodes airing earlier in the month.

Last week, Corrie didn't air on Wednesday (September 8) as ITV was screening live football coverage.

In tonight's episode, Tyrone remains in shock after Alina told him that she's expecting his baby.

Alina is determined to leave Weatherfield after Tyrone revealed that he still has feelings for Fiz (Jennie McAlpine). However, Tyrone believes that Alina's pregnancy announcement changes everything.

Thursday's scenes see Tyrone left with fresh hope when he finds out that Alina hasn't yet boarded her plane to Romania.

Tyrone races off to find Alina and tracks her down at a hotel, urging her to reconsider.

Alina is not impressed and insists that it's finally over between her and Tyrone.

While fans will have to tune in to see exactly how things play out, Ruxandra Porojnicu – who plays Alina – has already confirmed that she has left the cast of Coronation Street.

Writing on Twitter on Wednesday night, Ruxandra commented: "And that's a wrap on Corrie! Thanks to everyone who encouraged and supported me. It meant so much.

"I worked with some of the finest people, who are not only extremely talented but very humble and caring. They made me feel welcome and a part of this beautiful family. TA EVERYONE!"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
