CANTON – Police say a man pointed a gun at a woman in a local sandwich shop and demanded she give him her cellphone. Then he robbed the shop.

The 26-year-old Sixth Street SW man walked into the Subway at 164 Dueber Ave. SW about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and is accused of taking the phone at gunpoint from the woman, according to Stark County Jail and court records. He then is accused of pointing the gun at the cashier and demanding the restaurant's money.

Police caught up to him outside. Jail records show he was arrested at 7:39 p.m. in the 200 block of Dryden Avenue SW.

He remained in the jail Thursday, held without bond on two counts of aggravated robbery.
