A familiar face will return on Chicago Fire season 10, episode 2. This is the crossover episode of the season. Who could it possibly be?

The second episode of the One Chicago shows is always the biggest. Well, usually. The episodes in the 2020–2021 season don’t count considering the pandemic. Episode 2 is usually when the big three-show crossover happens.

That’s certainly the case for Chicago Fire season 10. It turns out that’s not the only thing we should be excited about. TVLine reports that we’ll get to see a returning face.

All we know right now is that the returning face “is a good, emotional surprise.” Who could it possibly be? There haven’t been any leaks that we’re seen from set, so we’re going to speculate a little.

Who will come back to Chicago Fire season 10?

There are a few characters we’d love to see return, and then there are a few characters who it is more likely to be.

Peter Mills

This seems like the most likely option considering the way the character left. Mills went away on good terms, choosing his family over the firehouse. He would be welcome back with the team.

I think if Charlie Barnett was coming back to set, there would have been leaks already. Of course, the social teams could be hot on any chances of leaks, and it might be a little easier this year due to strict pandemic protocols still in place.

Otis

Yes, Otis is dead and this isn’t a supernatural series, but just bear with me here. Cruz is currently trapped underwater in a sinking boat with no air with the rest of Squad 3. There’s no doubt we’re concerned about him, but will the show really write him out?

Probably not. We could be looking at a long recovery though and maybe he starts seeing Otis hanging around. Is it possible we have the ghost of Otis in Chicago Fire season 10, episode 2. It would definitely be emotional!

Gabby

Again, if Monica Raymund was coming back, I think we’d know about it by now. However, that doesn’t mean pandemic protocols haven’t had their uses. Is it possible that we’ll see Gabby return?

There’s the whole will-they-won’t-they with Brett and Casey right now. Could Gabby show up to give Brett her blessing for something to happen between Bree and Casey finally? It’s supposed to be a “good” surprise, but Raymund isn’t returning that we know of and she has her own show Hightown on STARZ. The idea of Gabby turning up to cause problems doesn’t sit right, so maybe just allowing Casey to fully move on.

Jessica “Chili” Chilton

Do you remember Chili from the fourth season of the series? If not, she was the paramedic brought in to replace Peter Mills. She didn’t initially get on with the rest of the firehouse, and just as people started to warm up to her, she fell back into alcoholism after the death of her sister.

Before her exit, Chili turned to Severide for help getting sober. Could we see her return with a new outlook on life? Could she be there for the big crossover episode in the initial emergency, leading to her catching up with members of the firehouse afterward?

Katie

If there’s one character we’d love to see return, it’s Katie. The problem was Brittany Curran was on The Magicians and schedules didn’t line up. Is there a chance they’ve lined up for Chicago Fire season 10, episode 2 and for a few episodes afterward?

She could be a great source of positivity for Severide as he recovers from the situation with the boat. (Look, I’m sure Severide will survive!) He could possibly need his half-sister around, especially if there’s a wedding on the cards for Severide and Kidd!
