Strictly Come Dancing fans think pro dancer Aljaz Skorjanec has accidentally let slip the identity of his celebrity partner in his latest Instagram post.

The performer shared a photo of himself holding up celeb contestant Adam Peaty's Olympic gold medals, and added the caption: "This is the closest I will ever get to an Olympic GOLD medal.. Thank u @adam_peaty U CHAMP! #chuffed #gold #medal #goldmedal #adampeaty #olympics."

Adam replied: "You are the champ."

Fans immediately began to speculate over whether the twosome had been paired together, with one commenting: "Please say you've been partnered together?"

"A dream partnership, make it happen!" another added.

As far as we know, there is only one all-male partnership in this series, which belongs to 2012 Bake Off winner John Whaite and his yet-to-be-revealed male pro dance partner.

Last year, boxer Nicola Adams became the first celebrity to have a same-sex partnership when she was teamed with Katya Jones.

Executive producer Sarah James recently said that this year's all-male partnership was "something we've always wanted to do".

Speaking to press ahead of the show's launch this weekend, Sarah revealed: "It's definitely something that we've always wanted to do and I'm really excited about John doing it. I think he's already proven that he's an amazing spokesperson for it and obviously, he's a household name and he is just a brilliant guy so I'm really looking forward to it being John."

She added: "I think Nicola and Katya were amazing last year and I think everybody really, really enjoyed that partnership. It was obviously a shame that it was cut short because of what happened but they've 100 per cent paved the way. The research that we've done since has prove that everybody really, really appreciated that partnership so I'm looking forward to John doing that."

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One on Saturday, September 18th.
