A Missouri man shot by police in Mountain Home five and a half months ago is finally behind bars. Forty-one-year-old Kevin Lee Donovan of Adrian, Missouri was released from medical care after being critically wounded after he shot at a bail bondsman near the midtown Casey’s General Store March 30 and was jailed when he was picked up by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office in Dekalb County in northwest Missouri Wednesday on the Baxter County warrant.

Donovan is facing five counts of attempted capital murder, resisting arrest, being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a habitual offender. He is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on a $1,000,000 bond.

Arkansas State Police Public Information Officer Bill Sadler says Donovan was wanted by Missouri authorities on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of a weapon.

Mountain Home Police Chief Eddie Griffin says three officers were on the scene and one returned fire after Donovan allegedly shot at a bail bondsman. No officers were injured in the incident.

The incident began when the bondsman located Donovan in Mountain Home at the Casey’s location and called local police to assist in taking him into custody. Officers responded at 7:30 p.m. and confronted Donovan, who brandished a gun and began to back away from authorities. Donovan allegedly retreated west off the business parking lot, raised a gun and fired at the bondsman. The Mountain Home officer returned fire, wounding Donovan.

According to media reports from Missouri, Donavan’s Missouri charges stem from police executing a search warrant at his house in 2018 and finding drugs and a firearm.
