More from Heather Knight: "Nat Sciver and Brunt started us off brilliantly with the ball. We're learning lots as a side, we've got a lot of experience but also trying to add to the team as we've seen with the debuts we've had recently.

"We want to create a bigger squad of fast bowlers in particular that we can bring in when we need to rotate players and depending on conditions, so we will see some changes in the next game."

  3. Post update

England captain and Player of the Match Heather Knight on Sky Sports: "We talked as a group about how to approach batting on slower wickets and how to get 250 on them. We fell a bit short today but it was tough out there. It wasn't my most fluent innings but having set batters was the key and Katherine Brunt was brilliant sticking with me.

"We probably wanted 10 or 20 more runs. We lost wickets in clusters and it's a tricky wicket to start on, as a batter you had to hide your ego a bit and just stay there and rotate the strike. You had to be really disciplined about choosing which balls to attack."

  4. Post update

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine on Sky Sports: "We got very close there in the end, it just goes to show the deeper we take the game, the closer we can get. I'm really proud of that effort but we've got a lot to improve on going forward.

"We thought 250 was par, it was a pretty sedate wicket and a fast outfield so we were happy to restrict them to that. But we've seen the damage that our lower order can do if they're given the chance, so if we can get to the 30 over mark with more wickets in hand, it will be game on.

"There are plenty of positives to take from today. What's pleasing about this group is we show a lot of resilience.

"It's been fantastic to have Lea Tahuhu back, she was brilliant with both bat and ball."

England will want to score 260-270 minimum if they bat first in the next game. Only Heather Knight went on to make the most of her start today so they'll want someone else to step up and make a score.

Heather Knight said she's going to look to rotate the bowlers, so we may see someone like Tash Farrant coming in but it's such a big opportunity for players to come in and make a claim for their place at the World Cup.

  6. Post update

Let's not forget the match-winning knock from England skipper Heather Knight. She scored 89 from 107 balls on a pitch which turned out to be quite tough for the batters.

What's encouraging about Charlie Dean is she is a genuine off spinner, she always wants to spin the ball. She looked at home, she had a presence. Yes she was expensive, but it's her debut and there were nerves flying around.

She has waited for this opportunity for a long time and I'm sure she will have wanted to perform better but she has that England number now and no one can take that from her.

  8. Post update

And after taking a bit of punishment, debutant Charlie Dean also took her first wicket in international cricket.

  9. Post update

So there we have it - it's first blood to England in this five-match ODI series. It was a good all-round bowling display with two wickets apiece from Freya Davies, Nat Sciver and Sophie Ecclestone,,,

Just as it looked as if we were in for a thrilling finale, a piece of brilliance from Lauren Winfield-Hill finishes it for England!

She's not slid her bat in properly! That's just lazy, you can't do that.

  12. BreakingEngland win by 30 runs

Kasperek run out (Winfield-Hill) 15 (NZ 211 all out)

WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT? SHE'S GONE!

Kasperek doesn't slide her bat in and England win by 30 runs!

  13. Umpire review

    NZ 211-9

A direct hit from the Lauren Winfield-Hill at mid-on and we go to the TV umpire! Going by the body language of the England fielders, Kasperek, running to the non-striker's end, seems to be safe.

    BBC Test Match Special statistician

This is a record 10th-wicket partnership for New Zealand.

New Zealand certainly don't think this is over yet.

  16. NZ 211-9

    Need 31 off 24 balls

Brilliant running as Satterthwaite and Kasperek take two.

Brunt seems to have turned the intensity up a notch with a fierce look on her face. She beats the outside of Kasperek's bat.

Can I just clarify that it wasn't me who took us off air this time?

  18. NZ 209-9

Katherine Brunt bowls out the back of the hand and Sattherwaite is wise to it. The batter waits for it and then drills it through mid-wicket for four.

Make that consecutive boundaries! Sattherwaite drives a full toss through mid-off.

New Zealand need 33 from 27. Surely not?

  19. NZ 201-9

Kasperek is putting some of her team-mates to shame with yet another boundary, although this one is a tad streaky as it goes off the outside edge and down towards third man.

The 200 is up for New Zealand.
