Leeds set to renew Phillips contract

A TEAMtalk exclusive today claimed that Leeds United are set to offer Kalvin Phillips a contract renewal that would make him the highest-earning player at Elland Road.

The 25-year-old currently earns £35k-a-week according to Salary Sport, having signed a five-year deal at the start of the 19/20 season which expires in 2024.

Spanish forward Rodrigo Moreno is the highest-earner at Leeds on £100k, with Patrick Bamford recently signing a new deal worth £70k and Brazilian playmaker Raphinha on £58k.

Phillips has continued to shine for the Whites despite their difficult start to the Premier League season, and has cemented his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad having made 17 appearances since his debut last year.

Recent rumours linking the Yorkshire Pirlo to the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal signify that an improved deal will likely be required to keep him in West Yorkshire in the short term, while a failure to progress enough in the top flight may see him leave down the line anyway.

However, an improved long term contract which will see Phillips earning over £100k-per-week will significantly boost his transfer valuation; his current market value on Transfermarkt stands at over £34m.
