There were additional fights, shoving matches, and injuries Wednesday night at the Nabisco plant in Northeast Portland. The events follow other contentious actions seen a day earlier.
Nabisco workers in Portland are currently striking. Employees tell KATU news they're seeking a fair contract and resolutions in disputes over wages, pensions, and overtime pay.
There were multiple chaotic incidents Wednesday night.
Protesters could be seen blocking trucks and vans that were trying to exit the property. Witnesses say the vans contained replacement workers, often derogatorily referred to as scabs. Security guards could be seen shoving protesters out of the way so the vehicles could continue driving.
On several occasions, vans could be seen driving fast across the property's front lawn, seemingly in no clear direction.
One man appeared to have a minor injury as he was loaded into the back of an ambulance.
Striking workers tell KATU News protesters who have shown up in recent days, including Wednesday night, don't work for Nabisco.
"No, they don't work for Nabisco," said one worker on strike. "They are people from the community. At the end of the day, this is Portland, Oregon. People protest. You know, it's Portland."
"I am so concerned," said another striking worker. "I don't want to see anybody hurt. It's scary. I never want to see anybody hurt. The last thing I want is to see somebody lay down in front of a van."
Portland police vehicles could be seen driving around the property, though it was unclear if they got involved in any of the disputes.
Calls and emails to police and Nabisco representatives weren't returned Wednesday night.
