• The Notre Dame College football team rose two spots — from No. 10 to No. 8 — in the American Football Coaches Association poll following its 31-15 win over Wheeling.

It’s the 23rd straight week the Falcons have been ranked. NDC’s next game is Sept. 18 at West Liberty. Kickoff is 2 p.m.
• Lakeland Community College men’s soccer checked in at No. 14 this week in the NJCAA Division II men’s soccer poll.
The Lakers (3-0-1) began the season unranked but have been a steady climber the past two weeks. Lakeland’s next game is Sept. 18 at Schoolcraft College.
