“My heart is broken. I've lost the light of my life, my oldest daughter Karli passed away this morning in a senseless act of gun violence. The love she had was so pure and true. The world lost a beautiful soul. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and please keep our family in your prayers as we struggle through this difficult time.”

According to local authorities, Karli Short was found dead on the spot at around 10:30 a.m. She had a gunshot wound to the head. An investigation is already ongoing to find the suspect in the brutal murder.

Short was drafted by the Giants in the fourth round in the 2000 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Giants, including helping the team advance to Super Bowl XXXV. He signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2004 as a free agent and suited up for two seasons before finding his way back with the Giants in 2006, which proved to be his last year in the NFL.

Brandon Short became an NFL analyst for the Giants after his playing career and later on earned an MBA with the Columbia Business School.
