EXETER – An Exeter High School graduate is set to audition before some of pop music’s biggest names on the hit NBC singing contest show “The Voice.”

Parker McKay, a member of the EHS Class of 2009, known then as Taylor Lintelman, will have her “blind” audition before celebrity music coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Ariana Grande.

Her audition show will air Monday or Tuesday, Sept. 20 or 21, beginning at 8 p.m., or when the show resumes the following week on the same nights, the show's publicists confirmed.

Former Exeter High School student Parker McKay will be featured in blind auditions for NBC singing contest, "The Voice."

McKay, a country singer now living in Nashville, Tennessee, posted on social media about being selected to the contest last month.

“So incredibly lucky to have so many supportive, warm, loving cheerleaders,” she wrote. “You have no idea what you are in for, these people are incredible and I’m so proud to be a part of this magnificent Season 21 (of the show) family.”

McKay was not allowed to give interviews prior to her audition airing when reached for comment.

During the audition stage of the show, contestants perform with the four judges sitting with their backs turned to the singer.

If a coach wants to select the singer, they press a button on their chair to spin around. If multiple coaches select the singer, the contestant can choose, which coach they want.

At EHS, McKay was a member of the honors choir.

As a sophomore, she was invited to perform the national anthem with a choir in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.

McKay attended college at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. After pursuing the New York country music scene for two years after graduation, she caught the attention of a booking agent. She has opened for acts like Rascal Flatts, Sheryl Crow and The Band Perry.

Parker McKay, a Nashville country singer from Exeter, will be featured on NBC's "The Voice."

McKay moved to Nashville in 2014. Since then, she has been named to Country Music Television’s Artist Discovery Program.
