The Cavaliers have locked down one of their two-way slots, agreeing to a deal with Brodric Thomas (per JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors).

Thomas, who went undrafted out of Truman back in 2020, began his NBA career with the Rockets before signing on with the Cavs via a two-way deal last season.

Cleveland had extended Thomas a qualifying offer, rendering him a restricted free agent.

The franchise has one remaining two-way contract open and they have several players coming to camp to compete for it, including 7-foot-5 center Tacko Fall.

More From Cleveland

  • The Cavaliers remain among the most aggressive suitors for Ben Simmons. Cleveland and Minnesota are seen as the two clubs making the hardest push to trade for the No. 1 overall. However, it appears that Philadelphia is planning to hold onto Simmons for now.
  • Any trade that sends Simmons to the Cavs would theoretically center around Collin Sexton or Darius Garland (assuming the two sides don’t bring in another third team to complete the deal). Our own Chris Crouse projects how Sexton could fit in Philly.
  • Isaiah Hartenstein, who played in 16 games for Cleveland last season after being acquired in the JaVale McGee deal, has latched on with the Clippers. Hartenstein’s deal is only a training camp contract, though Los Angeles has an open roster spot.
