The Manning brother’s Monday Night Football MegaCast was an absolute hit all around the country on Monday. So much so that on Tuesday, a particular trend made its way around the internet. Viewers made their desire heard for Peyton and Eli Manning to broadcast more than their ten alloted Monday Night Football games. And some college football fans have their eye on the Oct. 16 matchup between Tennessee and Ole Miss in Neyland Stadium in particular.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin was one of the first significant names to support the idea of Peyton and Eli Manning broadcasting their alma mater’s meeting.

The Manning brothers debuted their first MNF MegaCast last Monday. The brothers were tremendous as they shared old stories and gave in-depth looks into plays and calls. In addition, Peyton and Eli Manning welcomed in several guests from the sports world, including Charles Barkley and Russell Wilson.
And of course, the expected comedy from the two went off without a hitch. Eli made fun of Peyton’s forehead as any little brother would. However, so were most people after seeing Peyton only fit half of the Ravens’ helmet on his head.

It’s no surprise that people have already spotted the Ole Miss and Tennessee game as a potential place for the Manning’s to expand their broadcasting wings. And, because it wasn’t the traditional broadcast of Monday Night Football, it wouldn’t have to be the conventional broadcast of the college game either. Peyton’s history with Tennessee and Eli’s with Ole Miss adds a new storyline to the game. Not to mention, it would likely add a large new audience tuning in for the Manning brother’s doing college football.
Tennessee will welcome Kiffin and Ole Miss into town in week seven on Oct. 16. In August, a video found its way online of Ole Miss’ fall camp. In the video, Kiffin was playing Rocky Top on the speakers during the Rebels’ practice. Seemingly to prepare the team for an expected rowdy environment.
From 1984 to 2005, Tennessee won 12 straight games against Ole Miss. However, the Rebels have won two of the last three since then. The teams haven’t met since 2014 when Ole Miss won at home 34-3. However, the Vols were dominant the last time the Rebels were in Neyland Stadium. Tennessee won that game, 52-14, on Nov. 13, 2010.
The Tennessee Volunteers will look for the second win of the season in week three this Saturday. Tennessee will host Tennessee Tech for their third straight game in Neyland Stadium. However, there is no shortage of current storylines surrounding the team.
For starters, head coach Josh Heupel hasn’t been able to give an update on quarterback Joe Milton’s health. In addition, Tennessee’s two leading tailbacks are questionable heading into the game. On the bright side, though, the Vols will receive a significant addition on defense. Georgia Military Academy transfer defensive end Byron Young will make his debut after missing the Vols’ first two games.
“Through training camp, through spring ball, (Young) has been really good as a pass rusher off the edge,” Heupel said this week. “I think he’s going to add some things we need on that side of the football.”
Tennessee will host Tennessee Tech this Saturday at noon ET. However, there’s no official word on the Manning brother’s broadcasting plans for the Tennessee and Ole Miss game.
