Ashburn Magazine announces creative writing contest for high schoolers

Any budding Stephen Kings, Brit Bennetts or Margaret Atwoods in Ashburn, here’s a story for you. The folks at our partner publication, Ashburn Magazine, have announced the return of their creative writing contest for local high schoolers.

The 2021 Winter Short Story contest is underway. They’re looking for a short story — 1,500 words max — that has something to do with winter. It can be a dramatic story, a funny story, a scary story or a romantic story – or anything in between. Bonus points if the story has a tie to Ashburn.

The contest is open to any high school students who attend an Ashburn high school, or reside in Ashburn. The winner will have his or her story published in an upcoming issue of Ashburn Magazine, and  the top two runner-up stories will be published on the magazine’s website.

More details are below, but the deadline is coming up  — October 12, so fire up those creative juices and get writing.
