Sgt. Ryan Kenny, 40, was found shortly after midnight Aug. 14 suffering what police originally described as a medical episode in the 50th Precinct station house in Kingsbridge, police said.

Sources told the New York Post that cops had originally believed Kenny was experiencing a heart attack, but a subsequent investigation found that he had died from an overdose on the deadly synthetic drug fentanyl.

Kenny was injured several years ago and could have possibly developed an addiction, sources told the Post.

Kenny was a married father of 11-year-old triplets, according to a GoFundMe set up to support his family, which has raised more than $30,000.

“Ryan Kenny was a Sergeant for the NYPD for 19 years. He was also a beloved husband, father, and son,” said Natalie Messina, the fundraiser’s organizer.

“He worked tirelessly for his cops, always making sure they were well taken care of and prepared for the tasks ahead of them,” she added. “He was a man known for his humorous character that left all who encountered him with endless stories of the man he was.”
