Fairport grad makes history on SpaceX's all-civilian mission

Fairport, N.Y. —
A 1988 graduate of Fairport High School made space history Wednesday night.

Sian Proctor is part of the first all-civilian mission into orbit. No professional astronauts are on board, although all those who are taking part have gone through extensive training through SpaceX. A computer will run the flight.
“When we get to reveal the cupola for the very first time, will be a really big moment,” Proctor said prior to launch. “That view, we’re all excited for it.”

The crew will be in orbit for three days, and will splash down on Saturday.
