Hawaii reports 11 additional COVID fatalities, 493 new cases

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The state on Wednesday reported 11 new COVID-19 fatalities and 493 new infections.

The latest fatalities bring the death toll from the virus to 671.

In this month alone, Hawaii has recorded 82 deaths.

The Department of Health provided the following details on the deaths:

Kauai

1 Male, 70-79 years

1 Female, 80+ years

Hawaii

1 Male, 70-79 years

Oahu

1 Male, 30-39 years

2 Males, 50-59 years

3 Males, 60-69 years

1 Male, 70-79 years

1 Female, 80+ years

All of those who died were hospitalized and had underlying conditions.

According to Lt. Gov. Josh Green, 346 people were hospitalized Wednesday — down from 396 on Monday.

Meanwhile, the new infections pushed the total number of cases to 73,268.

Over the last 14 days, there have been 8,967 cases reported, which are considered “active” across the state.

There were also six residents diagnosed out-of-state.

Some 65.8% of the state’s population is fully vaccinated, while 74.1% have received at least one dose.
