Agents of the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team (UDEST) arrested 2 people and confiscated 275 marijuana plants in Ocala yesterday, Sept. 14th.
Captain Jason Douglas said USDET met with Clay Electric in reference to a power theft investigation, as Clay Electric noticed an irregularity in the service at 6659 NE 90th Street Road.
The investigation suggested that the power theft was happening in a large metal building, on the property, for the purpose of growing marijuana, said Douglas.
They tried to make contact at the main residence, but when there was no answer they tried the metal building where, after a while, Alexis Diaz and Rigoberto Rodriguez came outside, said Douglas.
Douglas said after they obtained a search warrant, UDEST discovered a a marijuana-growing operation with 275 marijuana plants.
The equipment to grow marijuana and the marijuana plants were confiscated and destroyed, said Douglas.
Douglas said Diaz was arrested for Marijuana Cultivation, Trafficking of Cannabis, Owning a Structure to Manufacture or Traffic Drugs, and Grand Theft of Power. Rodriguez was arrested for Marijuana Cultivation.
They both were transported to the Marion County Jail, said Douglas.
