Rumor of a new Nintendo Direct in the near future is starting to look more likely
It's been a few months since the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct aired. Fans have been wondering if another Nintendo Direct might be on its way since we're approaching the holiday season.
Statements from Samus Hunter, a Nintendo insider, have been very interesting as of late. According to Samus Hunter, a Nintendo Direct could air as soon as this month, or even early October.
Back in September 8, 2021, Samus Hunter claimed that Nintendo was planning a system update — "likely version 13.0.0" — for the second half of September or early October.
Notably, version 13.0.0 for the Nintendo Switch was made live late last night. This new update made it so that Bluetooth can be paired with the Nintendo Switch for audio output.

Earlier this year in July, this Nintendo insider made a bold claim that a Nintendo Direct was being scheduled for September, right around the time of WarioWare's launch.

This Nintendo Direct was said to supposedly have a focus on Metroid Dread, with sections dedicated to Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp and Mario Party Superstars.
Samus Hunter would then go on to mention updates for Animal Crossing, the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character reveal and new story DLC for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
Third party projects such as a Resident Evil title on the Nintendo Switch would also be covered during the Nintendo Direct.
If plans for Splatoon 3 don't change, marketing for the title should begin around that time.

I doubt in news about the Zelda BotW sequel, other than a small notice that we'll see it in a few months.
As new announcements a Kirby project is very likely.
However, Samus Hunter has noted that some plans have seemingly changed somewhat. She claims that the recently released Metroid Dread spotlight was described to her and was stated to be in the Nintendo Direct.
She's expecting to be able to give additional updates on the status of the Nintendo Direct later in the week.

I want to reiterate that, as I had said in a post a few weeks ago, that I wasn't able to get updates on the release date of the presentation and...
Although it's currently unknown if there is actually a Nintendo Direct in the works, it's quite clear that Nintendo has been releasing a lot of advertisements for Metroid Dread. The next chapter in the Metroid saga is slated for release on October 8, 2021.
Even if Nintendo decides to just replay the Metroid Dread spotlight that was recently released, it certainly would make sense for Nintendo to want to do one last push for Metroid Dread during a Nintendo Direct program.
Furthermore, it's been 79 days since Kazuya Mishima was first announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Masahiro Sakurai mentioned that "it'll be a while" before the announcement for the last character, but there's nothing indicating that "a while" is any longer than the waiting period for other character announcements.
This next character will supposedly be the last one to wrap up DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Sakurai has been very clear — about 6 times now — that there won't be any additional fighters after Challenger Pack 11.
As always, it's best to temper expectations and take rumors with a grain of salt. We'll certainly see very soon if there really is a Nintendo Direct slated for September or early October.
