WEDNESDAY UPDATES: Cole County reports 22 new coronavirus cases
The Cole County Health Department reported 22 new coronavirus cases from over the weekend.
According to the dashboard update, there are 10,698 residential cases and 284 long-term care facility resident cases. That is 10,982 total cases in the county.
Cole County has reported 155 coronavirus deaths; nine deaths were reported Tuesday after the state analyzed death certificates.
Cole County ranks 43rd in the state for counties with the most coronavirus cases per capita in the past week. Cases are down 8% comparing last week to the prior week. The county has an 11.1% positive test rate, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services .
The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports about 49% of the county have initiated their first dose of the vaccine and 44.5% of the county's population have been fully vaccinated.
The Jefferson City School District reported three new student coronavirus cases. The district has 14 active coronavirus cases in students and two active cases in staff.
The district is reporting six close contacts for students and one close contact for staff.
Missouri's seven-day positivity rate falls below 11%
The seven-day positivity rate in Missouri continued a downward trend on Wednesday.
Data from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services showed the positivity rate fell from 11.1% on Tuesday to 10.9%.
According to the state health department, 1,927 people tested positive for COVID-19 through PCR Testing.
Antigen testing revealed another 816 new coronavirus cases.
Missouri added 11 new virus-related deaths. At least 11,021 people across the state have died from COVID-19.
The number of people hospitalized in Missouri increased on Wednesday to 1,915. According to the state health department, 316 of those patients were on ventilators.
More than 2.8 million Missourians have completed the coronavirus vaccination process.
That's 46.4% of Missouri's population.
