New Minnesota Timberwolves veteran guard Patrick Beverley hasn't missed the playoffs yet in his career, though injuries have forced him to miss a few series. The Timberwolves have only made the playoffs once since 2004, and they were promptly eliminated by the Houston Rockets in five games in 2018.

Something has to give here, and, naturally, Beverley doesn't expect his playoff streak to end:

It's going to be a tall order for the Timberwolves to make the playoffs in the Western Conference. Minnesota went just 23-49 last season, putting them at No. 13 in the West and 10 games behind the 10th-seeded San Antonio Spurs.

However, there were signs of hope after Chris Finch took over as head coach last season. Rookie Anthony Edwards really came on in the second half of the season, and it certainly helped that Karl-Anthony Towns got healthy as well. There's an intriguing young core in place with Towns, Edwards, D'Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley, and Beverley could be the perfect vet to bring some much-needed defense, toughness and swagger to the roster.

There have also been a number of Ben Simmons trade rumors surrounding Minnesota. The Timberwolves are looking to make a big splash in order to take a big jump. There's always a chance that Beverley could wind up in a Simmons deal and traded again, but for right now, the veteran is focusing on getting ready for the season with Minnesota and helping them get out of the Western Conference cellar.
