Texas Tech had a quick start, with Erik Ezukanma recording a 75-yard touchdown pass, before Stephen F. Austin quieted the raucous crowd with an interception-return touchdown and taking a six-point lead into halftime.

Just like a week before, though, the Red Raiders shook off a rough first half and played better en route to downing the Lumberjacks in the home opener at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Texas Tech coach Matt Wells argues a call with head linesman Matt Burks during the first half of the team's game against Stephan F. Austin.

“It wasn’t clean on offense, and I’ll take the blame on that,” Texas Tech coach Matt Wells said. “In a game where we didn’t play real crisp on offense, we fought at the end. We popped a couple of runs in the third quarter where we fit it up well.”

Florida International University is coming off a Week 2 23-17 loss to Texas State.
