Netflix has released the official trailer for Maid, the new limited series starring Margaret Qualley, the star of HBO's The Leftovers and the streaming service's adaptation of Death Note.
Maid, which is based on the memoir inspired by writer Stephanie Land's life, features the actress playing a single mother named Alex, who escapes from an abusive relationship and tries to make a life for herself and her daughter by getting a job as a maid.
The work is disgusting and demeaning, with her going between cleaning grimy and disgusting places and fancy houses owned by the rich, but her determination to make a humble home for her daughter keeps her going.

Qualley's real-life mother, Four Weddings and a Funeral's Andie MacDowell, plays her mother Paula in the film. Paula has undiagnosed bipolar disorder and struggles to understand why Alex has left the father of her child.
Said abusive father, Sean, is playing by Love, Simon and Jurassic World's Nick Robinson, and the trailer shows that the two become embroiled in a bitter custody battle over their child.
The Princess and the Frog's Anika Noni Rose also stars in the upcoming series.

Meanwhile, in other Netflix news, the streamer has announced that the upcoming series of Narcos spin-off Narcos: Mexico will be its final batch of episodes, but the synopsis makes it sound like it will be an explosive ending.
The streaming giant also announced they are working on an anime adaptation of the Tomb Raider video game series, and they've got Marvel Cinematic Universe star Hayley Atwell onboard to provide the voice of Lara Croft.
Maid is a 10 episode limited series, and it will premiere on Netflix on October 1.
