HYANNIS – No more barriers on Hyannis Main Street next week, but the draw continues with Hyannis Open Streets on Sunday, Sept. 19, from noon to 5 p.m., and the Love Local Fest next Sunday Sept. 26.

The village’s central strand will be vehicle-free for Open Streets, so all ages can stroll, cycle, skate or otherwise circulate through a multi-block outdoor festival. The free event offers a wide selection of music – big band, the blues, and more – plus the ever-popular JT and Angel dance party.

Watch a demonstration of jijitsu by students of the Keith Rosary Martial Arts Studio or marvel at the skills of talented stilt walkers. Over on the Village Green, the ever-popular Kids Zone will feature a giant open-air slide, fun games, and – new this year – kids' karaoke on the bandstand stage.

Trevor the Juggler returns to amaze and delight at Hyannis Open Streets Sunday.

Many restaurants and stores along Main Street will be open Sunday, and some will have special offers reflecting the spirit of the day. Hyannis Open Streets is all about getting out and about. Everyone is welcome to this barrier-free celebration of movement.

Parking will be banned on Main Street Sunday, but there will be plenty of free spaces nearby, on North and South streets and at the Hyannis Transportation Center.

Hyannis Open Streets is presented by the Greater Hyannis Civic Association, the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District, and the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce, and fueled by the kind support of its sponsoring businesses and organizations. Love, Live, Local

The Love Local Fest is generously sponsored by Cape Cod 5, CapeBuilt and the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District. The Sept. 25 event features over 70 local artists, artisans and makers who pop up for the day, plus food trucks, a beverage garden featuring local craft beers, ciders and wines, live music, and kids’ activities.

“We’re so excited to once again be able to gather in person with our community for a day of free, family friendly fun on the Hyannis waterfront,” said Love Live Local CEO Amanda Converse. “We’ve got a great lineup of local makers and brands, as well as great local bands.”

Jo & Co. is set to play at 11:30 a.m., and Melic Moon performs live at 2:30 p.m. on the stage sponsored by Vivid Events and WOMR.

Once again, kids’ activities will be run by the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, whose staffers will be hosting maritime-themed activities for families and kids from noon to 4 p.m. on the museum's back patio.

“Small, local businesses are the backbone of our community,” Converse said, “and we hope to shine a bright light on that at our events. When people show up for the Love Local Fest, we see it as them showing up for our local shops, makers, restaurants and organizations.”
