Hawkeye: Here's Why Clint Barton Trained Kate Bishop Instead of His Daughter

There is little doubt that fans are already looking forward to Clint Barton's return in Hawkeye. After all, the new Marvel Cinematic Universe series will finally introduce Clint's protege Kate Bishop. But why did the former Avenger decide to train a new girl instead of his own daughter Lila Barton? The answer is in the show's first trailer.

It's no secret that Kate will be getting some training from Clint in Hawkeye. The two actually work together in the first trailer for the MCU series. However, fans were also wondering why Clint chose Kate instead of Lila, who has already shown interest in archery.

In Avengers: Endgame, we saw Clint helping Lila with her stance as she practiced archery. When they are called to lunch, his family suddenly disappears, leaving Clint alone and confused.

We see a completely different Clint in the Hawkeye trailer where he is a man happily reunited with his family. That alone should be enough to explain why the former Avenger isn't training Lila to be his successor.

There is a possibility that Clint had imagined Lila to be his future successor in the past. However, that probably changed after he lost his daughter along with the rest of his family. At this point, it's clear that Clint wants to keep his family safe and would never consider preparing Lila to be the new Hawkeye.

Which works out pretty well for Kate, who is the perfect candidate. She's a lot older than Lila and it looks like she can take care of herself just fine so Clint saw this as a sign that the girl should be the next Hawkeye.

The MCU series brings back Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton and introduces Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. Hawkeye will premiere on Disney+ on November 24, 2021.
