Kenneth Wayne Richardson passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 30, 2021 in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Ken Richardson was born to Richard and Virginia on May 26, 1950 in Port Townsend, Washington.

He spent his early years growing up on Mount Walker in Quilcene with lots of cousins and friends.

He was always the funny one in the family as he enjoyed playing pranks and anything he could do to make everyone laugh.

The family moved to Sequim when Ken was in junior high school. He grew up in the farming community, making spending money milking cows.

Ken graduated from Sequim High School in 1968. He followed his father into the world of logging and eventually became one of the state’s top log yarders. In 2013 he went to work for C&C Logging Company and worked there until he retired in 2020 at the age of 70.

Ken was great at running equipment and was always appreciated by fellow loggers for his yarding skills and his sense of humor.

He could keep the crew laughing while also taking the new guys under his wing to set them on the right path. He shared many a good logging story with family and friends.

At the young age of 22 Ken had married his first wife Sue and adopted her three sons, Brian, Terry and Floyd. They have many cherished memories of growing up in Port Angeles. He taught them about life, working hard, and that no matter what goes on in life, to find the middle ground. Ken raised them with love, respect and discipline. They turned out to be honest, hard-working and always try to do their best in life without taking everything for granted.

Ken was a dad full of adventure and fun. The family spent many happy times camping on the Peninsula.

Ken married his second wife Kathy in the late 1990s and they spent 17 happy years together.

Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and was always ready with a joke and a grin.

He loved the weekends watching the Seahawks, Mariners and NASCAR racing.

In recent years and after a very long working career, Ken finally bought the Harley he wanted as part of his retirement. He and his trusty dog “The Duke” would be dressed in full gear as they enjoyed cruising the highways.

Ken will be missed by so many who loved him as a friend or family member, but his memory will live forever in their hearts.

Ken leaves behind brother Glenn (Lisa) and family; sons Brian Richardson (Dana), Terry Richardson (Kari) and Floyd Richardson (Bethany); grandchildren CaSandra Cooksey (Tyler), Adam Richardson, Ty Richardson, Angella Leitie, Toni Richardson (Courtney), and Deegan Richardson; great-gandchildren Emilia Cooksey, Logan Richardson and Manning Richardson; plus aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Preceding Ken in death were his wife Kathy, parents and brother Jack.

A graveside service will be held at the Quilcene Cemetery at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, followed by a reception at the Quilcene-Jefferson Masonic Lodge at 170 Herbert St., Quilcene.
