Besides tuning into the Today show to watch cohosts Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager, Al Roker, and the rest of the crew, fans are now flipping on the TV in the morning for Tom Llamas.

After seven years at ABC News covering day-to-day headlines and breaking stories, the broadcast journalist signed off for the last time as the weekend anchor of World News Tonight in late January. In April, Tom officially joined the NBC family as a coanchor of the Today show — and since making his debut, folks can’t get enough of him.

“I just know it’s going to be a good day when I see Tom Llamas sitting at the desk with the @hodakotb and @SavannahGuthrie #YayToday” one person wrote. “@TODAYshow LOVE Tom Llamas on NBC 🙋‍♀️,” another added.

Viewers first caught a glimpse of Tom on the network in May during special segments about the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics, hurricane coverage and COVID-19 related news. What’s more, Tom’s new role also includes the title of NBC News senior national correspondent. On August 30, the Miami native temporarily transitioned from his reporting duties on NBC Nightly News to sitting behind the desk as a substitute for longtime anchor Lester Holt.

After realizing that Tom was pulling double duty for several days, many fans began cheering on the 42-year-old father of three on social media.

“@NBCNightlyNews Tom Llamas has done an excellent job filling in for Lester this week. Kudos on hiring him,” a follower tweeted. “I am a HUGE Tom Llamas fan. He’s the whole package in a journalist: intelligent, authentic, empathetic, fearless, etc. So happy he’s found a new home at my fav news channel @NBCNews. I adore Lester but when he retires, I hope Tom takes over,” a different fan said. “Mr. Llamas, you are a welcome addition to the NBC news team. Your reporting on major events in addition to the Today Show and 6:30 news show has been excellent,” someone else added on Instagram.

Although Tom is now back to solely cohosting the Today show, fans will soon be able to watch more of his coverage. On September 20, his new hour-long news program will begin streaming on the NBC News Now app. While no official title for the program has been revealed yet, we do know Tom will aim to cover a variety of topics, including Latin America and issues important to the Hispanic Americans in a segment called “The Americas.”

Here’s to Tom always giving his best on air!
