Gwendoline Christie Joins Cast Of Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’

Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) has joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming The Addams Family spinoff, entitled Wednesday, according to The Hollywood ReporterThe Emmy-nominated star, best known for her roles in Game of Throne and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will play Larissa Weems, the principal of Nevermore Academy who still has bad blood with her former classmate, Morticia Addams, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Mask of Zorro).

The series follows The Addams Family‘s Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega (You), during her years spent studying at Nevermore Academy and attempting to improve her psychic abilities while solving a supernatural mystery that once embroiled her parents over two decades prior. The previously announced cast members of Wednesday include Isaac Ordonez (A Wrinkle in Time) as Pugsley Addams, introducing Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Tommie Earl Jenkins (Death Stranding) as Mayor Walker, William Houston (Casualty 1907) as Joseph Crackstone, Oliver Watson (Cutting off the Ring) as Kent, Calum Ross (Loki) as Rowan and Johnna Dias (First Love) as Divina.

The eight-episode first season of Wednesday will be directed and executive produced by Tim Burton (Corpse Bride) and is written by showrunners Al Gough (Smallville) and Miles Millar (Smallville). Although Burton drew inspiration from the Addams Family franchise for The Nightmare Before Christmas, this project will mark his first official Addams Family project.
