The View Season 25 has showcased some noticeably calmer debates since controversial co-host Meghan McCain exited the ABC talk show last month. However, her presence can still be felt in the show at times, as evidenced by a snide, seemingly pointed comment that Joy Behar made in today’s episode.

Reese Witherspoon appeared on the show to promote the newest season of her Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, which centers on behind-the-scenes drama at a fictional morning talk show not so unlike The View itself.

When moderator Whoopi Goldberg asked Witherspoon why she and her media company Hello Sunshine chose a morning show to explore in particular, the actress said: “I think people are kind of excited to peek behind the curtain of these morning shows like you guys do. I’m sure people are always asking you what it’s really like… Do people get along, do people like each other? That’s people’s main question.”

“Well, right now, yeah,” Behar interjected.

“Reese, you never know what you’re gonna get on this show,” Goldberg added with a laugh.

It’s no secret that McCain often shared bitter arguments and passive aggressive comments with the other ladies of The View during her four-year stint on the series. So far, Season 25 has been much more tranquil, and the hosts’ rapport has flowed even more smoothly now that they’re back in the studio. Viewers will have to wait and see how guest hosts shake things up in the coming weeks, but so far, The View‘s new season is off to a strong start.

The View airs weekdays on ABC at 11/10c.
