You asked for more backstory, and Rick and Morty delivered. The final three episodes of Adult Swim’s sci-fi animated comedy basically felt like a completed checklist of fans’ biggest questions. What’s Rick C-137’s backstory? Check. How did he become friends with Birdperson? Check. What’s President Morty’s big plan? Giant check.

But you know the rules of good sci-fi. Every answer leads to two more mysteries. And you can bet we’ve been laying awake at night trying to figure out what may happen next. As you patiently (obsessively) wait for this new season, here are some of the biggest questions we want answered in Rick and Morty Season 6.

1

What does it mean now that the Central Finite Curve has been broken?

At the end of “Rickmurai Jack” President Morty finally got his wish. Years ago, all of the Ricks who were the smartest in their respective universes banded together and combined their universes. That combination was dubbed the Central Finite Curve, an infinite collection of multiverses that was separated from the other infinite number of universes. Up until now every time we’ve seen Rick and Morty portal gun to a new multiverse, it’s been to another universe where a different Rick is also the smartest person. Now those limits have been broken. What will it look like when Rick and Morty travel to a universe with an average Rick? Or even a dumb Rick? Or no Rick at all?

2

Did Rick C-137 really create the Central Finite Curve and the Citadel?

This was another thing we learned during “Rickmurai Jack.” Rick C-137’s origin story, or crybaby backstory as Adult Swim likes to call it, started when he was visited by an alternate version of himself. That other Rick offered him the ability to travel to other dimensions, which our Rick refused. In retaliation the other Rick murdered Rick C-137’s daughter Beth and wife Diane because no Rick takes rejection well.

Rick then went full psycho killer, tracking down and murdering every Rick he could find. His reign of terror was so absolute that a Council of Ricks was formed to stop him. But since he couldn’t be stopped, that Council eventually sided with him. That implies that our Rick created or co-created the Citadel of Ricks. If that’s true, why did our Rick create the Citadel? And what was he trying to accomplish? Speaking of…

3

Will Rick C-137 ever kill his nemesis?

We never saw Rick C-137 kill his rival, the Rick who murdered his wife and daughter. Will he ever find the Rick who ruined his life? And if he does, what will he do to this alternate version of himself?

4

Where is President Morty going?

While we’re on the topic of the Central Finite Curve, let’s talk about Morty. President Morty finally achieved his goal, grinding down countless Ricks and Mortys to overload the Central Finite Curve’s system and break it. In the final moments of “Rickmurai Jack”, we see him walking into a gold portal instead of a green one. Where is this Morty going? Are we ever going to see his adventures?

5

Is a new Citadel of Ricks going to be erected?

We’ve witnessed the collapse of the Citadel of Ricks before. In Season 1’s “Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind”, a Rick that was being controlled by future President Morty seriously crippled the Citadel. Season 3’s “The Ricklantis Mixup” saw the slow rebuilding of this government body. Though the events of Season 5’s finale wiped out almost every Citadel Rick and Morty, there are an infinite number of highly intelligent Ricks out there. Will these Ricks try to rebuild the Citadel and the Central Finite Curve? And will Rick C-137 help?

6

What happened to our Morty's Rick?

While we’re on the topic of our Rick and Morty, let’s focus on Morty. We know that our Rick belongs to Dimension C-137, and now we know for a fact that Morty never existed in C-137. So what happened to our Morty’s Rick? And on the same note, what happened to President Morty’s Rick?

7

What will happen to Birdperson?

The last time we saw Birdperson in “Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort”, he ditched Rick. Even though Rick saved his life, Birdperson had a good reason for leaving. While stitching back together Birdperson’s mind, Rick learned that Birdperson and Tammy had a child his best friend never knew about. Originally, Rick wasn’t going to tell his friend about his unknown kid in the hopes that Birdperson would hang out with him more. But now that Birdperson knows the truth, what is he going to do? Is he going to track down and raise his kid? Will he ever let Rick back into his life? And if not, what’s Rick going to do now that things are finally over with the rare person who understands him?

8

Will we ever to see a Space Beth adventure?

Talk about a Season 4 throwback. At the end of “Mortyplicity” we saw that Rick C-137 and the rest of the Smith family in a ship with Space Beth. While that cameo was fun, we want to see more. Let’s get a full Beth and Space Beth adventure, people.

9

What is going on with Summer and Morty's incest baby?

You can pretend the incest baby doesn’t exist, but he’s out there. In “Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion”, the Smith family used Naruto to destroy some anime posers. That’s about the best payoff we could expect for this monstrosity. But are we going to see him again?

10

Will Summer ever get a partner?

We’ve already tackled this one before, but it bears repeating. We know that Rick keeps Morty around because Rick’s super-genius brainwaves are canceled out by Morty’s… Morty brainwaves. That, theoretically, is the same reason why Beth keeps Jerry around. But what about Summer? “Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion” proved that Summer is every bit as smart, competent, and ruthless as her mother and grandfather. So where’s her camouflage? And what adventures will she get into without it?
