1 dead, 1 injured after shooting, stabbing in Upper Peninsula

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI – One person was shot dead, and another person was stabbed at a home in the Upper Peninsula.

WLUC-TV reports that the incident occurred in the 700 block of Willow Road in Marquette County’s Chocolay Township around 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Chocolay Township Police Department responded to the scene. Police say a 37-year-old man was found with two gunshot wounds to the chest. Life-saving measures began immediately.

The man was transported to UP Health System where he died from his injuries, according to the TV station.

Another man at the residence suffered a non-life threating knife wound and was treated at the scene. No arrests have been made at this time, WLUC reported.

The Michigan State Police and Marquette County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
