We have reached the middle of the week and on this Wednesday only the volleyball team is in action as it travels northwest to face its biggest in-state rival. Otherwise, it is the quiet before the storm this weekend when football welcomes the No. 1 team in the nation to the Swamp. In the meantime, here is the latest from around the Gator Nation.

The No. 14 volleyball team looks to get back on the winning path tonight in Tallahassee against the Florida State Seminoles. The Gators dropped a pair of matches to the then-No. 17 Baylor Bears last weekend to drop them out of the top 10 but holds a 43-20 series advantage over FSU, including a 15-10 record in Tallahassee, so there is a good chance for a rebound Wednesday night. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT and can be watched on the ACC Network or heard on ESPN 98.1 FM/850 AM.

- Florida handed Alabama one of its worst-ever defeats in 1991: Scores like that don’t happen often to the Crimson Tide.
- Behind Enemy Lines: Talking Florida-Alabama with Roll Tide Wire: We reached out to Stacey Blackwood of Roll Tide Wire to gauge his thoughts on the matchup with the Gators on Saturday
