The injuries keep rolling with for Barca. Following their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich on Champions League matchday 1, the Catalan giants will be without two more key players: Jordi Alba and Pedri. The team announced the news on Wednesday morning:

Alba limped off in the 74th minute at Camp Nou on Tuesday with an apparent hamstring injury and there's no timetable for his Barca return at this point. Pedri meanwhile, played the full 90 minutes but was diagnosed with a quadriceps problem after the fixture. Both of these injuries don't sound like they're serious, but it just adds to a laundry list of problems for Ronald Koeman right now.

Striker Martin Brathwaite is out for 3-4 months, while Sergio Aguero won't be able to make his Barca debut until November. Lionel Messi is now a PSG player and Antoine Greizmann was loaned out to Atletico. Dutch duo Memphis Depay and Luuk de Jong will heavily be relied upon up top.

Pedri is fresh off a busy summer playing for Spain at Eur0 2020 and at the Tokyo Olympics. He's played a ton of football in the last number of months and clearly, his body has broken down. The youngster featured in two league games already this term and played a total of 76 times for club and country last season.

Alba is still a vibrant player at left-back for Barca but he is aging. This should open up an opportunity for Academy product Alejandro Balde, who replaced the veteran on Tuesday in his first senior appearance.

Hopefully, Barcelona can still find some results without two regulars in their starting XI.
