Kenny Chesney has been one of the most recognizable names in all of mainstream country music for over 20 years now.

He’s garnered a huge following in “No Shoes Nation,” and has racked up 40 top 10 singles over his career.

However, we’ve only known the man to be a country singer…

Until now.

In fact, he’s just announced that he will be the executive producer for the next SEC Storied, a series that documents the best moments and stories the college football conference has accumulated since its founding in 1932.

This next episode is titled “More Than a Voice,” documenting all of the best play-by-play radio moments/announcers the conference has ever seen.

According to Chesney, his drive to produce this episode stems from the impact that John Ward, longtime play-by-play announcer for the Tennessee Volunteers, had on his upbringing:

“It was important for me to be a part of this film, because John Ward was such a big part of my life growing up and loving sports in east Tennessee.”

“With his voice and his words, he painted a picture of Tennessee football that captured my imagination and the imaginations of so many.

Meeting him was one of the highlights of my life – and I’m thrilled to be a small part of this film that sheds light on his genius and so many of the other voices who have made the Southeastern Conference really special.”

The 11th season of SEC Storied kicks off on September 26 with “More Than a Voice” at 7 PM ET on the SEC Network.
