After failing to sign a new right-back in the summer transfer window Everton have been linked now with a future move for another young defender; Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsey.

Everton were trying to get another full-back in and made moves for Denzel Dumfries although they couldn’t get a deal done because of finances.

Then on deadline day the club’s efforts centred on getting Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles but the proposed deal didn’t come off and the club go into the remainder of the season without that additional cover that is so needed.

The Toffees had also bid for a young Scottish right-back Nathan Patterson but his club Rangers rebuffed the Blues attempts to sign him and with Steven Gerrard as manager I doubt the Glasgow giants will entertain any further offers from the direction of Goodison Park.

Well now Everton have switched attention and are apparently tracking another young Scot as they are eying up a potential move for Aberdeen’s Ramsey. According to these reports they have sent scouts to look the player over with a view for a possible January move.

The 19-year-old is certainly a talented player with, according to Whoscored.com, all the qualities its seems that the Toffees need as they search continually for a successor to Seamus Coleman.

If the Blues do want to sign this player they need to move quickly as it seems other Premier League clubs are also monitoring the young Scottish teenager.

In other news about long-rumoured transfers stories today claim that Everton were interested in making a move for Tottenham’s Harry Winks but were put off by his price tag.

The Times claims that the two clubs were a long way apart in their valuation of the player who has come through the ranks at the north London club but seems to have lost his way a bit recently.

Ideally, the Blues need more reinforcements in midfield because, despite the excellence of Allan and particularly Abdoulaye Doucoure so far this season, there is a need for more options there especially given Jean-Philippe Gbamin’s terrible record of injuries.

None of this can be sorted out before the new year so we will have to wait and see if Everton do make any January moves for a young player like Ramsey or even revive a possible deal for Winks.
