Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Ryan Connor is given fresh hope for a reunion with Alya Nazir next week.

Ryan (Ryan Prescott) destroyed his relationship with Alya earlier this year when he spent a drunken evening with Daisy Midgeley at the Rovers Return.

As Ryan wasn't sure exactly what had happened between him and Daisy (Charlotte Jordan), the situation led to a split for him and Alya. He also briefly dated Daisy in the aftermath.

Alya only discovered a few weeks afterwards that Ryan hadn't cheated and Daisy had manipulated the situation to cause trouble.

In upcoming episodes, Alya's brother Zeedan (Qasim Akhtar) returns to the cobbles and confronts Ryan for the poor way he has treated Alya.

When Zeedan is later attacked in the street by two thugs, he initially points the finger at Ryan. This is partly to cover the fact that he has got himself into some unrelated trouble during his time away from Weatherfield.

Ryan is easily able to clear his name as he was working all afternoon, so Zeedan has to come clean with his family over what's really going on.

Later in the week, Zeedan pays a visit to Ryan at the pub and apologises for wrongly accusing him.

Zeedan also adds that Alya, who has been defending Ryan, clearly still thinks a lot of him.

Ryan's hopes are lifted as he believes that he's still in with a chance with Alya. Will they ultimately get back together?

Sair Khan, who plays Alya, recently spoke about the possibility of her character reuniting with Ryan.

She said: "[Alya's] trying to put on a brave face, like she doesn't care about Ryan but deep down she loves him and she wants him back. She's fighting with herself, there's a massive conflict between her head and her heart.

"Also now she knows it wasn't all Ryan's fault and she knows about Daisy's manipulation it makes the whole thing a little bit more complicated. She doesn't want to let Ryan off the hook too easily but she is definitely still pining for him.

"Since the whole Daisy controversy and the break-up I've realised how fully invested I am in them as a couple. I'm really interested to see where the relationship could go next.

"On the face of it they're not well suited at all, he's a bit of a joker, sort of a lost puppy but I think that complements Alya really well. She can be a bit highly strung, maybe a bit stuck up at times. He really brings out the softer, more playful side to her.

"She's had to be so tough for so long she's struggled to see the lighter side of life, so I think they are a good pairing."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, September 22 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
