The Dallas Regional Chamber is marking a milestone in its campaign to work with business owners to convince their employees to voluntarily get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The group's "Take Care of Business" campaign was launched in June with the goal of having 600,000 people in the north Texas region get at least one dose of the vaccine this summer.

"We really wanted to increase the number of vaccinations that we saw in north Texas, and we decided 'let the business community get involved', and we decided on the Take Care of Business campaign," said Latosha Herron-Bruff, the DRC's Senior Vice President of Community Engagement. "We were trying to get to 600,000 vaccinations by the end of the summer - and we got to 660,061, which is amazing."

Leaders of the business group initiated the campaign as part of their effort to protect the people and paychecks of the Dallas region.

"We had a portion of our campaign that was directed to employers and how do they talk to their employees about getting vaccinated," said Herron-Bruff, "so we had a tool kit that they could use a resource."

The organization plans to continue its efforts.

"I am glad to see that more people are choosing to get vaccinated," said Michelle Vopni, Dallas Office Managing Partner for Ernst & Young LLP and Chair of the Board of the Dallas Regional Chamber.
