Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott hit back at a Manchester United supporter who mocked his serious ankle injury.
The 18-year-old midfielder suffered a dislocated ankle against Leeds on Sunday afternoon following a challenge from Pascal Struijk, who will serve a three-match ban after losing his appeal against the red card shown to him following the incident.
Elliott has since undergone surgery to repair a fracture-dislocation of his left ankle. "Operation was a success," he said on Instagram. "Thank you so much to everyone for your amazing support. The road to recovery starts now. At the end of the storm there's a golden sky.
Thousands of fans flooded the talented midfielder's social media accounts with positive messages after he picked up the injury but one Manchester United supporter mocked his ongoing recovery by commenting: "He's not walking like that anymore" on a video of the Liverpool player.

It didn't take long for him to respond.
Manchester United have, in fact, won four trophies since 2013. The Reds picked up the FA Cup and Community Shield in 2016 before lifting the Europa League and EFL Cup in 2017, when Jose Mourinho was in charge at Old Trafford.
In terms of news surrounding the injury, Elliott has sent a classy message to Struijk after his appeal was turned down by the FA.

"Sorry about this, Pascal. I think it's wrong!" he wrote on Instagram. "But it'll soon blow over brother and you'll be back in no time smashing it again. Keep positive."
Despite fears over his injury, Elliott is expected to return this season, according to Liverpool's club doctor.
"We were able to reduce the dislocation immediately on the pitch and Harvey had surgery today to repair the fracture and ligaments damaged in the incident. The operation was a success so his comeback starts now," Dr Jim Moxon said.

"We won't put pressure on him by setting a specific timeframe beyond being able to say with confidence we expect him to feature again later in the season following our rehab programme."
