Musings: God Cares About Y.O.U.

There’s all kinds of information coming out lately about the existence of UFO’s and aliens.

There are more than a few government reports and television specials about alien abductions and sightings. People are more willing to tell their stories about what they’ve seen and what they’ve experienced. And more people believe what they are saying because, well, why would they lie? According to a recent Gallup poll, “Four in 10 Americans now think some UFOs that people have spotted have been alien spacecraft visiting Earth from other planets or galaxies.” (1)  Furthermore, 75% of Americans are fully convinced that "life of some form exists elsewhere in the universe.”  It makes sense to them that the Universe is so immense that it isn’t possible we are the only ones occupying it.

Interestingly, though 75% are fully convinced that life of some form exists somewhere else in the Universe — though no one has seen it — only 64% are fully convinced that God exists. (2) And of those people who truly believe God exists, less than half believe God determines what happens to them most of the time. (3) It makes more sense to them that God is too big and too busy running the Universe to care personally about them. So, they don’t believe He does. They don’t bother God with what’s bothering them. These are unfortunate facts about the people who presently live on this planet.

Especially in recent months when so many things seem to be out of control. Especially when we are uncertain and afraid. Especially when people we love are getting sick and some are dying. Especially when the terror of pandemics is alive and well. Especially when everyone is so filled with anger. Especially when getting through a day without falling apart takes all the strength we can find. Especially when all the fear and confusion is keeping us from being able to sleep.

In the middle of all of it, I am going to tell you something that is true. You can believe me or choose to not believe me. Here it is: You can take all the fear and anxiety and loneliness and throw it all on God, and He will willingly take it from you. And He will carry it for you. How do I know this? Because He has carried all mine. You don’t have to believe me, but why would I lie? The Bible explains it this way: “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:7).

God cares about you? Why does He care about you? He just does. Not because you deserve the God of Heaven to care about you. He just does. It’s not easy to believe this unbelievable truth — but why would God lie? Trying to make sense of the love God has for you is beyond my ability. But if you ask Him to reveal His love for you - He will.

Give Him all your anxiety. How? Just say, “God, I am unable to carry all these things that are worrying me. I am overwhelmed. Do you care enough to take this intense anxiety I am living with?” If you sincerely mean those words, He will show you that He does care about you. Most people will not believe me. It’s still the Truth.
