Name: Alysha Valier
City of residence: McKinleyville
Area of expertise: Cannabis manufacturing and production
What is the mission of the company you work for and/or run: Unlocking the power of plant to improve people’s lives. Quality comes first.
How did you get involved in cannabis work: Being from the Emerald Triangle, I grew up in the heart of the cannabis industry. Watching our communities pioneer into medicinal cannabis legalization (prop 215) from an illicit market, I became hyper-aware of the positive impact cannabis has on lives both personally and for society as a whole. My love for the cannabis plant grew strong. Although I saw how my community was impacted by prohibition, I hoped for a brighter future in this industry and strived to be a part of the movement.
What part of your work do you find most fulfilling: Doing what I love the most. Growing up I’ve always been told to find a career that you have passion for. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to hold a career in cannabis, working for a company that is aligned with my core values. Using plants for medicine is being human. This is the conversation I have had and will continue to have for as long as I live.
Also, I’m proud to work with a company that is partnered with many local farmers, in turn giving back to our community and the local economy.
If there are local products, where are they available: You can find Papa & Barkley products in most Humboldt dispensaries and all across the state of California!
What do you look forward to in the cannabis industry: I would like to see cannabis taken off the federal Schedule I controlled substance list. I want to see our products available to anyone and everyone who needs access to them.
What advice would you give someone who was looking to work in the cannabis industry? This industry is growing! If you have a mastery in cannabis or you want to introduce yourself to the power of the plant, I believe there is a place here for your talent and skill. This is just the beginning folks!
