London-based label Maharishi has returned with its Fall/Winter 2021 collection, continuing to explore military influences as it showcases the “Art of War.” The collection continues some of the label’s signature themes, including a new seasonal camouflage, its Tailor Shop and its MAHAPATCHCO, which utilizes deadstock vintage military patches and insignia that were abandoned by the US army at the end of the Vietnam war.

The Art of War influence comes from disparate cultures and generations, ranging from the indigenous American Comanches to the Japanese Samurai. These references are shown through intricate patterns including the “Samuranche” embroidery, which mixes 17th century Japanese battle dress with the broken arrow peace symbol used by the Comanche.

Elsewhere, the Tailor Shop showcases embroidery from the US Seawolves helicopter attack squadron, while Maharishi has also reproduced the Vietnamese “Monster Tiger” camouflage pattern. The collection also incorporates British velvet and a heritage melange wool alongside sustainable materials such as organic cotton and natural hemp as well as vegetable-dyed recycled nylon.

Take a look through the lookbook in the gallery above. Maharishi’s FW21 “Art of War” collection is available now from the brand’s web store.
