BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Hokies now getting ready for their week three match-up against West Virginia. Saturday’s game in Morgantown set to be Virginia Tech’s first true road game with a full stadium since the pandemic began. Virginia Tech head football coach Justin Fuente says this week his players will try to simulate the hostile environment they’re expecting at West Virginia by pumping in crowd noise at their indoor practice facility. Tech looking for its first 3-0start since the 2017 season — which coincidentally was the last time the Mountaineers and Hokies met. Virginia Tech winning that battle at FedEx Field, 31 to 24.

“You can be up by 14 and the other team can kick a field goal and it sounds like and feels like you’re down by 21. You just got to continue to stay in the moment and play the next play. An encouraging aspect of that is that we are an older team we should be able to handle all of that. With the tradition that these two teams have. With not just a trophy but the things that are at stake in this game. It’s an awesome opportunity. This is why you do all this work in the offseason. So we should relish the opportunity but you also have to understand you can’t get carried away with it and when you play on the road in a hostile environment it just enhances all your feelings. All your emotions,” said Fuente. Saturday marking the first meeting between the two squads in Morgantown since 2005. Kickoff set for noon.
