Feds arrest fatal shooting suspect in Durham

DURHAM, N.H. — Deputies from the U.S. Marshals Service Maine Violent Offender Task Force arrested a suspect Tuesday evening in Durham who was wanted in connection with a fatal shooting earlier in the day.

Randal J. Hennessey, 30, of Biddeford was arrested about 8 p.m. without incident and booked at the Strafford County Jail, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety. Hennessey is charged with being a fugitive from justice.

The release described Hennessey as the suspect in a fatal shooting that was reported in Biddeford, Maine, earlier in the day.

Biddeford police responded at 3:14 p.m. to a 911 from 26 Union Street in Biddeford for a report of a male who had been shot, according to the news release. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a deceased male on the front porch. The suspect had fled the scene.

The Biddeford Police Department notified the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit–South, which responded to the scene along with the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team and the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

The victim was identified as Douglas Michaud, 31, of Biddeford. 

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner is expected to conduct post-mortem examinations on Michaud on Wednesday.

Crime scene technicians and analysts from the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team were processing the scene and expected to be at the residence on Union Street throughout Tuesday evening and into Wednesday. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit–South continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting, as of about 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to the news release. 

Detectives from the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit, members from the Biddeford Police Department and agents from the U.S. Marshals Service assisted in searching for the suspect.
