Twins 6, Cleveland 3: Back on target

The Twins earned a split of today’s doubleheader.

MLB: Game Two-Cleveland Indians at Minnesota Twins Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

After losing game 1 of today’s doubleheader the Twins tasked Charlie Barnes with the start tonight. He pitched 3 scoreless innings and one not-so-scoreless inning. That inning was the 3rd, where Cleveland notched 4 hits against Barnes, 2 of them being doubles to score the game’s first 3 runs. Amed Rosario, Jose Ramirez, and Franmil Reyes each contributed an RBI and things weren’t looking great for the Twins.

Surprisingly the Twins came roaring back in the 4th inning. Jorge Polanco and Miguel Sano singled, then Ryan Jeffers hit a 2-run double. Willians Astudillo hit a double of his own to tie the game, and then Nick Gordon gave the Twins a 4-3 lead with a single to right-center.

That lead was expanded in the 6th on a Jeffers 2-run homer to center field. The ball, incredibly, hit a target sign that a fan was holding which was very cool to see. There was a review and in a stunning turn of events, the call was not overturned due to fan interference.

Alex Colome was brought in to save the game and did so without much trouble.
