CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The work of a chainsaw artist is one filled with many questions, with the primary one being “how did you learn to do that?”

For one Juliet March, the answer is simple. She started through the desire to give her husband something special.

“About seven years ago, I got into it because of my husband, Ron,” said Juliet March, the woman behind Bears by Juliet, ”he had a birthday coming up and I wanted to get him a chainsaw carved bear, but honestly, I couldn’t find anything I wanted, and nothing that quite fit in my budget at the time. So I did some research online, and ‘I think I can do that.’”

So, without ever having used a chainsaw before., Juliet began to learn. While her husband hasn’t yet received a bear of his own, the community has begun to purchase and display their own wooden decorations.

“I love them, they seem to love me, they’re really supportive. All kinds of different people, everyone, forget about family. That’s why I continue doing it, is because people really get into it, they get excited, they chime in with their own ideas.”

While the endeavor does remain as a side project for Juliet., the feedback she’s gotten from the community keeps her busy with requests.

There’s no telling how large Bears by Juliet could get, but the meaning behind the art is the main focus.

“More contributions to actually making some more people happy. We take the beetle kill wood, and we shape it and turn it into something that seems to kind of reach a lot of people. Kind of like their inner child, sort of.”
