PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The pandemic has had a dramatic effect on mental health in the U.S.
In a CDC report, the number of adults reporting anxiety or depression increased from 36.4 percent in August of 2020 to 41.5 percent in February of 2021.
A new event called "Reboot Retreat" aims to offer a reset.
Empathic Practice owner Felipe Munoz teaches people to find peaceful moments, even in everyday activities.
"You're taking a shower, try to pay attention to what it feels like when every drop falls on your body," Munoz said. "You're trying to connect with something that is different than the usual."
He says practices like mindfulness and meditation can seem complicated, but it all starts with being fully present in the experience of the moment.
