An airplane made an emergency landing near the Pitchess Detention Center in Santa Clarita after an unknown emergency.
Around 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, first responders received reports of a low-flying aircraft near the northbound 5 Freeway and Hasley Canyon Road in Castaic, said Franklin Lopez, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The plane reportedly landed on the jail property after experiencing an unknown emergency, according to officials.
The pilot was seen outside of the plane by emergency responders arriving at the scene, according to California Highway Patrol logs.
The pilot and a passenger refused medical aid, according to officials.

Additional information: The plane was a Piper PA-28 Cherokee Warrior, tail number N32947. It was based at Van Nuys. They were flying home from the Kern Valley airport (L05).
