Nila Blackford and the Kent State women's basketball team will host Florida State on Dec. 21.

Kent State has finalized its 2021-22 women's basketball schedule, which is highlighted by a Dec. 21 home game against traditional ACC power Florida State.

The Golden Flashes (11-9 in 2020-21) will host a Power 5 school for the second time in the past three seasons when the Seminoles visits the M.A.C. Center for the final non-conference contest of the season. Two years ago over 4,200 fans were on hand to watch Ohio State hold off the Flashes at the M.A.C. Center.

"Once again we have a rigorous non-conference schedule that will be exciting for our fans," said KSU head coach Todd Starkey. "We're excited to bring another Power 5 team to the M.A.C. Center in Florida State. We will also play in one of the top non-conference tournaments in the country."

Kent State opens the season at Northern Kentucky on Nov. 10. The home opener is slated for Nov. 14 against Saint Francis (Pa.), followed by a home contest against John Carroll on Nov. 18.

The Flashes will then open against UCLA on Nov. 26 at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla. The Flashes will play additional games in that same event on Nov. 27 and 28 at Hertz Arena.

After visiting St. Bonaventure on Dec. 3, Kent State will play its final three non-conference games at the M.A.C. Center. The Flashes will host Duquesne on Dec. 8 and Clarion on Dec. 11 before Florida State comes to town on Dec. 21

The 20-game Mid-American Conference schedule begins at home against Toledo on Dec. 29. Kent State then visits Western Michigan on New Year's Day. The remaining league slate will include home-and-home matchups against the other nine MAC schools, including Akron (at home on Jan. 22, at Akron on Feb. 19). The Flashes will host Ohio in the regular season finale on March 5.
